This presentation focuses on radiographic techniques for patients with traumatic injuries to the hip and pelvis. Proximal femoral fractures are a common injury in the elderly population and there are a considerable variety of techniques that can be employed to demonstrate the fractures radiographically. This presentation will also cover pelvic trauma associated with high speed mechanisms of injury and commonly missed fractures of the hip and pelvis in all age-groups.
Michael is a senior radiographer at Flinders Medical Centre in South Australia. He has an interest in trauma radiography, image interpretation and radiography clinical education. Michael is a frequent presenter of papers and workshops at conferences in Australia and was a keynote speaker at the ASMIRT conference in Wellington, New Zealand in 2015. He is a former consultant radiographer to Papua New Guinea under the Australian Commonwealth government’s AusAID program. Michael has received various awards and scholarships including the ASMIRT International Travel Scholarship in 2012.
